Dolomiti Superski
The spectacular Dolomiti Superski area is the largest in the world. It has much to offer skiers looking for a challenge, as well as intermediates and beginners.
The region is characterized by beautifully groomed pistes, a well organised and well maintained lift system, friendly locals, quaint villages and the most breathtaking scenery.
Dotted throughout the region are characterful mountain bars and restaurants (some of which have Michelin stars, and some of which are world famous), providing local delicacies such as fruit grappa! All these establishments are of such a high standard that we challenge you to find one that is less than excellent!
San Cassiano
One of 40 villages in the Dolomiti Superski area, San Cassiano nestles in the heart of the Dolomites in its own region of Alta Badia, surrounded by the stunning limestone cliffs and towers, which change from grey-pink in the morning to rosy red in the late afternoon sunshine.
San Cassiano lies between Cortina and Val Gardena. It is one of four villages around the Ski Carousel play area, which takes you between La Villa with its famous ‘Gran Risa’ World Cup run, Corvara and Colfosco.
One of the world’s most unique and memorable ski runs, the Hidden Valley, is close by. At the bottom of this beautiful run, you can be pulled back to San Cassiano by horse! Find out more in our Blog on Favourite Ski Runs.
Our chalet is just three lifts away from the famous Sella Ronda – a day’s ski around a group of stunning peaks, taking in Arabba. Half an hour from Arabba is the Marmolada glacier.
Intermediate skiers
This part of the Dolomites features miles and miles of wide red and blue runs. Intermediate skiers will find themselves progressing fast here because the pistes are so well maintained and groomed.
Advanced skiers
For the more advanced skier, there are plenty of blacks and challenging reds in the Dolomites to keep the adrenaline flowing. And you’ll find it’s possible to cover significant distances in a day.
From San Cassiano, a 40-minute ski brings you to Selva Val Gardena, with endless pistes to explore and another World Cup run - the men’s downhill black. There’s also a red run down to San Cassiano that takes you to our chalet.
Snowboarders
In this part of the Dolomiti Superski area, snowboarders have the advantage of wide open pistes and seemingly inexhaustible mileage. There is also a snow park very close to Piz Sorega
Children and beginners
San Cassiano has an excellent ski school and the nursery slope is at the top of the high-speed gondola from the village. Learners quickly progress to the nearby blue runs of the Ski Carousel and can soon make the gentle blue back to the village and our chalet, Albergo Frohsinn.
There’s a children’s adventure playground close to the top of the gondola and an indoor soft play area upstairs in the Piz Sorega restaurant for young bambinos.
Guided ski tours
Our staff will ski with you around the Carousel on your first day and introduce you to our immediate area. They will offer a tour of the Sella Ronda and frequently offer other ski trips as well. It will be impossible to experience all the area has to offer in just one week - we’re sure you’ll want to return!
